Auto Theft Teams and Identification TechsIn addition to specialized auto theft teams dedicated to fighting auto theft and fraud, Michigan has a number of police officers that have been trained as Vehicle Identification Technicians. They are available to officers and departments requesting this service. Due to jurisdictional issues, the tech may not be able to assist with other investigative requests.
